Centre for Cancer Research

Led by Professor Anna de Fazio, the research in the Centre for Cancer Research (CCR) aims to improve outcomes for people with cancer, including skin and blood-related malignancies. This encompasses improved treatments; new technologies and a precision medicine approaches to cancer management. Working towards a world in which cancer occurs much less often and can be successfully treated, CCR aims to understand the molecular and cellular basis of cancer and how they manifest in people with cancer, and in people with increased risk of developing cancer. CCR research teams are helping to translate the great current wave of cancer genomics, proteomics and imaging into improved clinical practice and are at the forefront of CAR-T and other cellular therapies. The Centre’s vision is to undertake high impact cancer research, with an emphasis on research that can be translated into clinical practice, promote a pipeline for research, from discovery phase through to clinical trials and ultimately, clinical application and build on our research capacity with a focus on achieving international excellence.
