The Ludwig Engel Centre for Respiratory Research (LECRR) at WIMR, in collaboration with Westmead Hospital Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, conducts research into a wide variety of respiratory and sleep disorders. LECRR has a fully equipped sleep laboratory capable of performing overnight sleep and circadian rhythm studies, and well-established collaborations with WIMR’s Centre for Cancer Research and WIMR’s Centre for Virus Research.
Our research focus
- Upper airway physiology in obstructive sleep apnoea;
- Interactions between sleep, cancer, and circadian rhythms;
- Pulmonary gas exchange consequences of lung diseases;
- Virology of chronic obstructive lower airways diseases.
