The Clonal Evolution in Autoimmunity Laboratory investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying human autoimmune disease, with a focus on pathogenic lymphocytes. By applying cutting-edge single-cell genomic technologies to patient-derived tissue samples from diseases such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, the lab aims to trace the evolutionary trajectories of disease-driving immune cells. This approach enables us to define their role in disease pathogenesis and determine whether they acquire driver mutations similar to those observed in lymphoma.
