Biography
A/Prof Joanne Reed is a Principal Research Fellow and head of the Autoimmunity & Amyloidosis Laboratory at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research.
Joanne completed her PhD at Flinders University studying autoantibodies in Sjogren’s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. She was awarded a NHMRC CJ Martin Fellowship for postdoctoral training at New York University where she studied genetic and immune drivers of neonatal lupus.
Returning to Australia, Joanne took up positions at Australian National University and Garvan Institute where she developed single cell genomics, which uncovered the origins of a pathogenic immune cells in patients.
Joanne’s current research focuses on using genomics to improve the prognosis and treatment of autoimmune and amyloid diseases.
