Biography
Carina Lauter (BMedSc (Hons), University of Sydney) is an experienced biobanking and quality management professional with a strong background in translational research, clinical trial support, and quality systems implementation. In her role as Biobank and Quality Manager at Phage Australia Westmead (The Westmead Institute for Medical Research), she is responsible for the coordination and governance of an integrated pathogen, phage, and human specimen biobank supporting national translational research initiatives and clinical trials.
Research interests
Carina leads Australia’s only ISO 9001–certified pathogen and phage biobank, which has directly supported the treatment of more than 50 patients through an integrated phage therapy service.

Projects
– The STAMP clinical trial – open-label, single-arm trial investigating a standardised treatment and monitoring protocol for phage therapy, treating patients with bacterial infections that have exhausted other therapeutic options to control their infection.
– The Phage Australia Westmead ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System supports the Westmead arm of Phage Australia, integrating phage biobanking, rapid phage diagnostics, phage production, and clinical trials.
