Dr Rosemary Habib

Biography

Dr Rosemary Habib is a medical oncologist and clinician–researcher with extensive experience in cancer care, translational research, education, and health policy. Her clinical practice spans solid tumour oncology with a strong focus on improving equitable access to high-quality cancer care across the continuum, from diagnosis through survivorship and palliative care. Dr Habib is the clinical medical oncology for head and neck cancers in Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). Dr Habib also co-leads clinical management of sarcomas and upper gastrointestinal cancers within WSLHD. She is the lead investigator of an investigator-initiated clinical study examining diabetes and metabolic factors in head and neck cancer, and serves as Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials across WSLHD.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Habib is an accomplished researcher with a PhD and a track record of competitive grant funding, peerreviewed publications, and leadership of multi-site collaborative studies. Her research portfolio includes head and neck cancer, sarcoma, colorectal cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, and immunotherapy-related translational research, as well as health services and outcomes research focused on equity, survivorship, and advanced cancer care. She has founded a clinical oncology research database within WSLHD to support clinician-led research and quality improvement, and she leads the PRMS (Patient-Reported Measures Study), a multi-site collaborative project supported by competitive grant funding.

Dr Habib is deeply engaged in education and mentorship, supervising trainees, mentoring early-career clinicians and researchers, and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. She serves on multiple ethics, advisory, and governance committees and is a member of the TROG (Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group) Head and Neck Cancer Working Party, contributing to the translation of research evidence into policy and clinical practice.

Her work extends beyond academia to community engagement and advocacy, with a particular interest in addressing disparities in cancer outcomes and improving models of care for patients with advanced disease.

Dr Habib is recognised for her collaborative leadership style and her commitment to integrating clinical excellence, research innovation, education, and policy to improve outcomes for patients and families affected by cancer.
