Biography

Professor Jacob George specializes in understanding the causes and mechanisms of liver disease and cancer. His research spans viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis, liver cancer epidemiology, and host genetics/immunology, with a strong focus on translating laboratory findings into clinical practice. He has led influential studies, including the identification of key genetic predictors for hepatitis C treatment response, advancing the field of personalized medicine. His work on the role of insulin resistance in fatty liver disease has shaped current therapeutic strategies.

Professor George is an active contributor to clinical trials, serves as an advisor to Hepatitis Australia and other key organizations, and oversees research for the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver. He is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
