Biography
Maryam moved to Australia in 2002 to pursue postgraduate studies at UOW and USYD, earning her MSc and PhD in 2006. She returned to Sydney in 2009 to start her career in immunology and infectious diseases research. Her work has contributed to the understanding of viral and bacterial infections, particularly in influenza and COVID-19. Maryam has secured significant research funding, and her pioneering research has led to high-impact publications, a patented biomarker for distinguishing viral and bacterial pneumonia, and advancements in diagnostics and patient care. She has received prestigious awards and has supervised postgraduate students and mentored young researchers.
